Owner report 10047066 · 2003-11-17 (November 17, 2003)

THE SEATS ON THIS AND TWO OTHER FX35'S WE OWN FROM INFINITI "ROCK" BACK AND FORTH WHILE DRIVING. THE SEAT POSITION IS NOT STABLE. THIS IS ALSO WIDELY REPORTED WITH THE G35 AND INFINITI CANNOT FIX IT. I BELIEVE IT TO BE CRITICALLY DANGEROUS. THE SWAY BACK TO FRONT IS SUDDEN AND SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO JAR THE DRIVER CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL. MY SEAT LITERALLY ROCKS ABOUT 1/3" BACK AND FORTH LIKE A ROCKING CHAIR. WE HAVE ANOTHER ONE THAT DOES EXACTLY THE SAME THING. IN THE SNOW I CAN IMAGINE THE SUDDEN SWAY TO BE SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH THAT A DRIV…

I HAVE NOT YET HAD AN ACCIDENT BUT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. I OWN A 2003 INFINITI FX-35. THE SEAT HAS A ROCKING MOTION TO IT. IT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH WHEN I ACCELERATE AND BRAKE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS A PROBLEM THEY ARE RESEARCHING. AFTER 7.5 MONTHS I AM CONVINCED THEY ARE JUST BLOWING ME OFF. I CONTINUALLY CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP AND CUSTOMER RELATIONS. I DON'T FEEL CONFIDENT THAT THE SEAT WOULD PROVIDE THE NECESSARY PROTECTION IF I WERE TO EVER CRASH THE VEHICLE. Recall history

10 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

03V164000 · Power Train:Automatic Transmission

Reported: 2003-05-05 (May 5, 2003)

ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE BOLTS WHICH ATTACH THE PROPELLER SHAFT(S) TO THE TRANSAXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL(S) MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ADEQUATELY TIGHTENED.

Consequence: IF THE BOLTS COME LOOSE, THE PROPELLER SHAFT MAY COME OFF THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PROPELLER SHAFT BOLTS AND TIGHTEN THE BOLTS TO THE PROPER SPECIFICATION. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 27, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.

03V476000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Disc:Caliper

Reported: 2003-11-14 (November 14, 2003)

ON CERTAIN SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPER MOUNTING BOLTS MAY NOT BE ADEQUATELY TIGHTENED. THIS COULD RESULT IN ONE OR BOTH OF THE CALIPER MOUNTING BOLTS LOOSENING.

Consequence: IF THIS OCCURS, IT WOULD ALLOW THE CALIPER TO ROTATE OR SEPARATE FROM ITS MOUNTING BRACKET. THIS COULD CAUSE THE BRAKE TO FAIL, REDUCING THE VEHICLE'S ABILITY TO STOP. IT COULD ALSO DAMAGE THE WHEEL, CAUSING THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. EITHER ONE OF THESE CONDITIONS COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL TIGHTEN THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPER MOUNTING BOLTS TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE SECURE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON JANUARY 5, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT INFINITI AT 1-800-662-6200.
