Incident Summary: I am reporting a recurring and dangerous failure of the vehicle’s lane-keeping/automated steering system. The vehicle provides unprompted, forceful steering inputs that fight the driver’s control, creating an immediate risk of high-speed collisions. Incident 1 (I-5 North): Traveling at 70 mph in the right-hand lane. Every few minutes, the vehicle initiated an unprompted steer to the left. The vehicle is equipped with multiple safety monitoring systems. One of these systems is the lane departure correction. Unlike a gentle reminder as on most other vehicles, this vehicle applies on brake to force the vehicle in the opposite direction. This correction is violent. A new driver to this vehicle can try to compensate for this abrupt movement of the vehicle, overcompensating to a dangerous degree.
