2025 Ic Bus CESB: complaints, problems and recalls

We purchased (6) 2025 IC School buses and we are having entrance door issues. They are air powered doors and Rush Trucks in Akron cannot get the air regulated to close properly. They turn up the air so that the door closes, the doors then slam very hard that may cause injury if student is close to the door. If the air is turned down, the doors do nut shut properly causing issues with the student crossing lights which then sounds an alarm and the lights do not function properly causing the lights to not activate when crossing students. Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2024-2025 IC Bus CE SBUS school buses equipped with Intellipark Park Valve Modules (PVM). The rubber ball seal in the PVM may fracture and cause a leak, which can result in park brake failure or unexpected park brake engagement while driving.

Consequence: Park brake failure or unexpected park brake engagement while driving increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the Intellipark PVM, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 01, 2024. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 24507.

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2024-2025 IC Bus CE school buses. The brake lights, in certain conditions, may not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed, due to a software error. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems."

Consequence: Brake lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the visibility of the bus or fail to indicate to other drivers that the bus is slowing down, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the vehicle software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 24, 2024. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 24508.

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2025 IC Bus CE school buses. Tie rod assemblies may contain ball studs that may have been incorrectly heat-treated, which can cause them to break, and possibly result in tie rod failure.

Consequence: Tie rod failure can cause a loss of vehicle steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the tie rod ends and realign the front axle, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 29, 2024. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 24510.

Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2024-2025 IC Bus EVSB and 2024-2025 CESB school buses. The brake caliper mounting bolts may not have been properly tightened, allowing the brake caliper to detach from the anchor plate.

Consequence: A detached brake caliper can cause a loss of braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Navistar will inspect, tighten, and replace any missing bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 4, 2024. Owners may contact Navistar Customer Service at 800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 24513.

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses equipped with halogen headlights. When the high beams are activated, the low beams turn off. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: Headlight low beam failure can reduce visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the body control module (BCM) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25502.

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC CESB and 2025 EVSB school buses. The driver's seat belt anchor bolt may come loose.

Consequence: A loose seat belt may not properly restrain the driver in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will install spacers and tighten the seat belt anchor bolts, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 2, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25504.

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses. The parking brake can be released when the wheelchair platform lift is deployed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 403, "Platform Lift Systems."

Consequence: A bus that moves while the platform lift is in operation increases the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the dash electronic control unit (DECU) module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 16, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25506.

Reported: 2025-08-12 (August 12, 2025)

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2024-2026 IC Bus CESB and 2025 EVSB school buses. The tension spring may corrode and break, disengaging the barking brake.

Consequence: A parking brake that is not engaged as expected when the driver releases the brakes may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the parking brake cable and adjust the parking brake, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 6, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25511.

Reported: 2025-09-04 (September 4, 2025)

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2016-2026 IC Bus CESB and 2016-2021 RESB school buses. The underfloor reinforcement may not have been installed, compromising the structural integrity of the buses. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages" and 222, "School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection."

Consequence: Reduced structural integrity may increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and install a reinforcement channel as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 8, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25514.

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2024-2026 IC Bus CESB school buses. A tire may contact and damage the air dryer discharge line, causing an air leak and the unintentional activation of the parking brake.

Consequence: Unintended activation of the parking brake while driving increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect, replace, and reroute the lines as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 17, 2025. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25517.

Reported: 2025-11-13 (November 13, 2025)

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses. While carrying the maximum number of occupants, the bus may exceed Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) when the fuel tank and fluid reservoirs are full.

Consequence: An incorrect GVWR may lead to unintentionally overloading the bus, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair suspension as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 27, 2026. Owners may contact International customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 25523.

International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB school buses. The brake lines may have been installed with incorrect hardware, which can result in brake line damage and cause a leak.

Consequence: A brake fluid leak can extend the distance required to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the brake lines and brake line retainers as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 27, 2026. International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2023-2027 IC Bus CESB and 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB school buses. The body panel joint may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such these vehicle fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."

Consequence: The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the interior vertical joint as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 4, 2026. The driver's window panel and entrance door vertical joints may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."

Consequence: The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Dealers will install rivets along the driver's side window seam and entrance door seam, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 8, 2026. Owners may contact International's customer service at 1-800-448-7825. International's number for this recall is 26511.
