AFTER REFUELING, STARTED VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT AUTO-ON HEADLIGHTS DID NOT WORK AS I HAD TO TURN THEM TO THE MANUAL "ON" SETTING. NEXT, MY DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK AND THE DASH LIGHTS BECAME EXTREMELY BRIGHT. NEXT, MY SEAT BELT CONTINUOUSLY "CHIMED" WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH IT ON. I ALSO NOTICED THAT MY TURN SIGNALS, WHEN ACTIVATED, DID NOT MAKE A SOUND. I DROVE LIKE THIS FOR ABOUT (30) MINUTES IN THE EVENING.

ALSO NO SOUND WHEN USING SIGNALS. LASTLY, THE SEAT BELT CHIME WOULD ALARM EVERY 15 SEC OR SO, THE WARNING LIGHT ON DASH STAYED ON. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE CAR (WENT IN STORE) AND RESTARTED IT ALL SEEMS TO BE GOOD? *TR

Owner report 11620078 · 2024-10-16 (October 16, 2024)
My 2016 Genesis coupe will spontaneously, randomly accelerate, full throttle. I can't stop it until I throw it into neutral. There doesn't seem to be any common factor for it to happen. More often it was on the start up but sometimes as I was driving in traffic. The incidents are usually far apart. I have nearly wrecked too many times, so I parked it for good until I find the solution. I won't sell it and cause another person to possibly wreck or injure others. The local Hyundai dealership kept it for two months and test drove it but the proble…

Recall history
2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
16V722000 · Air Bags:Sensor:Occupant Classification
Reported: 2016-10-07 (October 7, 2016)
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Genesis Coupe vehicles manufactured December 12, 2008, to June 11, 2016. The electrical harness connector for the front passenger seat Occupant Classification System (OCS) may dislodge when the seat is moved.
Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger frontal air bag, the disconnected OCS would, by default, cause the first stage, and only the first stage, of the air bag to deploy, whether there is a child seat in the front seat and the bag should not deploy or if the crash is severe and both stages should deploy. Either scenario increases the risk of injury to the front seat occupant.
Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will secure the OCS connector to prevent it from disconnecting, free of charge. Parts are not currently available and a second letter will be sent to owners when parts are available. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 151.
NHTSA campaign record ↗20V248000 · Air Bags:Frontal
Reported: 2020-05-04 (May 4, 2020)
Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2016 Genesis Coupe vehicles. The mounting bolts securing the driver-side frontal air bag may have been insufficiently tightened, potentially causing the air bag to detach from the steering wheel.
Consequence: A detached driver's air bag increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Remedy: Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the mounting bolts and retighten them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 22, 2020. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 192.
