2010 Honda CIVIC HYBRID: complaints, problems and recalls

ABOUT JUNE 2013 MY TIRES STARTING LOSING AIR PRESSURE SLOWLY, ABOUT 5 TO 10 PSI A WEEK, CAUSING THE TPMS TO SHOW AND ALERT. I WASN'T SURE WHAT WAS GOING ON. I TOOK THE CAR FOR SERVICE 06/22/13 AND HAD THE DEALER LOOK AT THE TIRE AT THAT TIME IN CASE IT WAS A NAIL. THEY FOUND NOTHING, BUT SAID IT WAS CORROSION ON THE RIM. ON THE 7/28/2013 I WAS DRIVING NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF APP 70MPH IN MY 2010 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID WHEN SUDDENLY EVERY DASH LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE DIED CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO FREEZE UP. THE RESULTING CHAIN OF EVENTS NEARLY CAUSED ME TO WRECK THE VEHICLE BUT I WAS ABLE TO PERFORM A CONTROLLED STOP AND EXIT THE FREEWAY. APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES LATER I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE ON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR FRACTURED, CAUSING IT TO DROP AND BLOCK THE DRIVER'S VISIBILITY OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SUN VISOR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,900.

2010 HONDA CIVIC. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IMA POWER ASSIST SYSTEM FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS SHOWING ONLY 75 % OF THE IMA WAS BEING CHARGED. IN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES OF OPERATION, THE IMA FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. LIAR LIAR. MY MILEAGE HAS NEVER BEEN CLOSE TO WHAT THE STICKER SAID, UP TO 40 IN TOWN AND UP TO 50 ON HI WAY. THE MOST I EVER GOT IN TOWN OR EVER ON HI WAY IS 36 TO 38 MPG. PURCHASED VEHICLE IN 2010. IN 2011 IMA/ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I AM NOT SURE OF THE MILEAGE AT THAT TIME. TOOK TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHECKED AND REPLACED HYBRID BATTERY. EVER SINCE NEW, THE HYBRID SYSTEM IS UNRELIABLE. IF THE HYBRID BATTERY CHARGE IS BELOW 1/2, WHICH IS OFTEN, THE BATTERY ASSIST DOES NOT COME ON WHEN ACCELERATING. Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 Acura TSX, 2011 TSX Wagon, 2010-2011 Acura ZDX, 2008-2011 Honda Accord, 2010-2011 Accord Crosstour, 2006-2011 Civic, Civic Hybrid, and Civic GX, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2010-2011 FCX Clarity and Insight, and 2009-2011 Fit, and Pilot vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands, or "Zone A." Additionally, unless already included in "Zone A" above, Honda is recalling certain model year 2008 Honda Accord, 2006-2008 Civic, Civic Hybrid and Civic GX, and 2007-2008 CR-V vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, or "Zone B." Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2009-2014 Acura TSX, 2011-2013 TSX Sport Wagon, and 2010-2012 ZDX and 2008-2012 Honda Accord, 2010-2011 Accord Crosstour, 2006-2011 Civic, Civic Hybrid and Civic NGV, 2012-2014 Crosstour, 2007-2011 CR-V, 2009-2013 Fit, 2010-2013 Insight, and 2009-2015 Pilot vehicles. The front passenger air bag inflator may have been installed incorrectly during replacement.

Consequence: An incorrectly installed air bag inflator may not properly deploy the passenger frontal air bag in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the inflator installation and, if necessary, replace the passenger frontal air bag module assembly, free of charge.
