2026 Gmc SIERRA EV: complaints, problems and recalls

Rear right clunk in rear suspension. Dealer kept truck for 2 days and can't figure it out. Worried it could be a suspension nut or bolt and could cause a crash.

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V594000 (Electronic Stability Control (ESC); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. Component/system malfunctioned: Adaptive Cruise Control integrated with Traffic Sign Recognition/Speed Limit Assist (camera-based speed sign detection and automatic speed adjustment). Vehicle available for inspection upon request. While driving ~35 mph in 35 mph zones with Adaptive Cruise Control engaged, the system repeatedly misread speed signs (or GPS data) as much higher (e.g., 75 mph). General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV electric vehicles. After experiencing an electronic stability control (ESC) system malfunction, the ESC malfunction warning light may not illuminate on the next key cycle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

Consequence: An indicator light that does not illuminate may fail to warn the driver of an ESC system issue, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The EBCM software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 15, 2025. General Motors has decided that certain 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV, 2025-2026 Cadillac OPTIQ, Chevrolet Colorado, Equinox EV, GMC Canyon, 2026 Buick Enclave, Envision, Cadillac CT5, Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL, LYRIQ, VISTIQ, Chevrolet Blazer EV, Corvette Convertible, Corvette Coupe, Corvette Convertible E-Ray, Equinox, Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500, Silverado EV, Suburban 1500, Tahoe, Traverse, GMC Acadia, Hummer EV Pickup, Hummer EV SUV, Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, Sierra EV, Terrain, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The radio may not have been set to the correct status to download the electronic owner's manual during production. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, “Occupant Protection.”

Consequence: Without an owner's manual to consult, owners may not know how to safely use and operate the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will reset the vehicle radio, which will facilitate automatic download of the electronic owner’s manual, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 16, 2026. General Motors, LLC is recalling certain 2026 Cadillac Escalade IQ, Escalade IQL, GMC Sierra EV, and Chevrolet Silverado EV vehicles. The high voltage battery may have an improperly secured internal module component.

Consequence: A loose component may move and damage the high voltage battery, increasing the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the high voltage battery, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 24, 2026. General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV vehicles. A manufacturing defect may result in the steel wheels cracking at the disc vent holes.

Consequence: A cracked wheel may lead to disc separation and a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the wheels as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 14, 2026.
