THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO A COMPLAINT THAT I MADE LAST YEAR OR EARLY THIS YEAR. MY 2000 HONDA CIVIC TIRES FAILED. 2 FAILED AND WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, THEN THE OTHER 2 FAILED AND I BOUGHT A DIFFERENT BRAND. THEN I REGISTERED THIS WITH YOU. ALL FOUR TIRES WHERE ORIGINAL, SO THEY MAY HAVE BEEN MANU AT THE SAME PLANT AND AT THE SAME TIME. HOWEVER, JUST NOW THE FIRST 2 TIRES REPLACED JUST FAILED FOR THE SAME REASON. THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO A COMPLAINT THAT I MADE IN 2003 OR EARLY IN 2004. MY 2000 HONDA CIVIC ORIGINAL TIRES FAILED. 2 FAILED AND WERE REPLACED WITH THE SAME BRAND UNDER WARRANTY, THEN THE OTHER 2 FAILED AND I BOUGHT A DIFFERENT BRAND. THEN I REGISTERED THIS WITH YOU. 3-4 MONTH OLD SUPER SWAMPER IROK TIRE SIZED: 33X10.50 EXPLODED DURING HIGH SPEED AT 60 MPH. DRIVER WEAVED INTO OTHER LANE UNCONTROLLABLY THEN STEERED TO SHOULDER. DRIVER INVESTIGATED SCENE OF EXPLOSION. SMALL PIECE OF TIRE , ABOUT 11 INCHES IN DIAMETER FITTED PERFECTLY INTO SIDEWALL RIP CIRCUMFERENTIALLY, RIP WAS IN SIDEWALL 65% OF TIRE RIPPED. TIRE SHOP THAT SOLD PUNCHED FAKE HOLE IN TREAD AREA , BLATANTLY OBVIOUS, AND SHOWED ENTRANCE INTO TIRE WITHOUT AIR NO NAIL PRESENT. ASKED ABOUT RECALL. SHOP OWNER ONLY WORRIED ABOUT ME PURCHA…

Reported: 2001-04-24 (April 24, 2001)
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: COMMERCIAL AND SCHOOL BUS BODY MINIBUSES. THE INNER BODY PANEL COULD CONTACT AND DAMAGE THE WIRING HARNESS BY THE DRIVER'S SEAT. IF THE WIRES ARE DAMAGED, AND A CONTACT BETWEEN THOSE WIRES OCCURS, THE AIR BAG COULD INADVERTENTLY DEPLOY.
Consequence: UNEXPECTED AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT CAN RESULT IN OCCUPANT INJURY.
Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS AND WILL BE REIMBURSED FOR LABOR COSTS INVOLVED. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT GIRARDIN AT 1-819-477-8222.
