THE RIGHT FRONT ROCKWELL BRAKE PULLS TO THE RIGHT. TT CONSUMER STATES THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKES WERE HOTTER THAN THE OTHER BRAKES, DEALER REPLACED RIGHT FRONT BRAKE SHOES, PROBLEM CAME BACK AND DEALER REPLACED RELAY VALVE, LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT SHOES AND DRUMS, HAD TO HAVE FRONT AND REAR AXLES REALIGNED, WHILE TRAVELING ON A WET ROAD, CONSUMER LOST TRACTION AND WENT TO THE LEFT, HE APPLIED BRAKES AND VEHICLE PULLED HARD TO THE RIGHT CAUSING TRUCK TO JACK KNIFE, CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM IS IN THE FRONT BRAKES. *SLC

91V084000 · Steering: Steering Wheel/Handle Bar

Reported: 1991-06-03 (June 3, 1991)

MALFORMED STEERING WHEEL CENTER SECTION COULD RESULT IN A FRACTURE OF THE UPPER HUB CASTING. THIS MAY LEAD TO SEPARATION OF THE STEERING WHEEL FROM THE STEERING COLUMN MOUNTING HUB.

Consequence: FRACTURED UPPER HUB CASTING COULD RESULT IN LOSS OFSTEERING CONTROL WITHOUT WARNING AND AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: REMOVE AND REPLACE THE UPPER HUB CASTING AND INSTALL A HUB PLATE.

91V224000 · Power Train:Driveline:Universal Joint

Reported: 1991-12-30 (December 30, 1991)

THE INTERAXLE DRIVELINE U-JOINTS MAY FAIL AT LOW MILEAGE DUE TO A LACK OF LUBRICATION IN THE U-JOINT DURING THE ASSEMBLY PROCESS.

Consequence: THE DRIVELINE COULD SEPARATE WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING WHICHCOULD RESULT IN VEHICLE DAMAGE TO TRUCKS, NEARBY VEHICLES, AND INJURY TO ANYONEIN THE AREA WHEN DRIVELINE SEPARATION OCCURS.

Remedy: REMOVE AND REPLACE THE INTERAXLE U-JOINTS.

93V149000 · Visibility:Windshield Wiper/Washer:Linkages

Reported: 1993-09-14 (September 14, 1993)

CONTACT INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPER LINKAGE AND THE MOTOR OUTPUT SHAFT NUT CAUSES LINKAGE SEPARATION, RESULTING IN FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM.

Consequence: FAILURE OF THE WINDSHIELD WIPER SYSTEM REDUCES DRIVERVISIBILITY IN INCLEMENT WEATHER WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: REMOVE AND REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD WIPER LINKAGE WITH A REDESIGNED LINKAGE THAT PROVIDES ADDITIONAL CLEARANCE WITH THE WIPER MOTOR OUTPUT SHAFT.

97V114001 · Exterior Lighting:Turn Signal:Switch

Reported: 1997-08-04 (August 4, 1997)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: HEAVY DUTY TRUCK. THE SHOULDER BOLT WHICH HOLDS THE GROTE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH CASE AND COMPONENTS TOGETHER CAN LOOSEN RESULTING IN THE TURN SIGNAL MALFUNCTIONING.

Consequence: IF THE TURN SIGNAL FUNCTION IS LOST, FOLLOWING MOTORISTS WOULD NOT BE AWARE OF THE TURNING VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THESE VEHICLES AND TIGHTEN ANY LOOSE BOLTS AND IN THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH WITHIN 2 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF THE RECALL NOTIFICATION LETTER. THE SHOULDER BOLT WILL BE REMOVED, CLEANED, AND REINSTALLED WITH LOCTITE. OWNERS CAN ALSO REQUEST LOCTITE AND REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS SO THEY CAN FIX THE VEHICLES THEMSELVES.
