TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FOREST RIVER SALEM 5TH WHEEL CAMPER (NA). THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE INFORMING HIM THAT HIS DOMETIC REFRIGERATOR NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, BUT THE HEAT SHIELD WOULD NOT FIT PROPERLY. THE SHIELD WAS FORCED INTO PLACE, WHICH CAUSED THE COOLANT TUBE TO CRACK. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE CONTACT AND HIS WIFE TOOK THE VEHICLE ON VACATION AND NOTICED THAT THE REFRIGERATOR WAS INOPERATIVE. WHEN THEY RETURNED HOME, THEY TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THAT PERFORMED THE PREVIOUS …

CLASS C MODEL. WHILE TRAVELING IN MOTOR HOME AND APPLYING BRAKES (HYDROBOOSTER), WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE DOES NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. VEHICLE WILL GLIDE A COUPLE OF FEET. DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES.*AK CONSUMER ADDS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE IS ALSO EXPERIENCED WHEN CAMPER IS FULLY LOAD WITH 1200 LBS. *TT

Reported: 2007-03-05 (March 5, 2007)
CERTAIN RECREATIONAL VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A TWO-DOOR REFRIGERATOR, MANUFACTURED BY THE DOMETIC CORPORATION, MAY HAVE A DEFECT IN THE BOILER TUBE. PRESSURIZED COOLANT SOLUTION COULD BE RELEASED INTO AN AREA WHERE AN IGNITION SOURCE (GAS FLAME) IS PRESENT.
Consequence: RELEASE OF COOLANT UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS COULD IGNITE AND RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: FOREST RIVER WILL BE WORKING WITH DOMETIC IN ORDER TO REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS (PLEASE SEE 06E076). DOMETIC WILL REPAIR THESE REFRIGERATORS BY INSTALLING A SECONDARY BURN HOUSING, A THERMAL FUSE, AND A MELT FUSE FREE OF CHARGE. DOMETIC HAS RETAINED STERICYCLE INC. TO MANAGE THIS CAMPAIGN. STERICYCLE WILL ASSIST YOU IN LOCATING DEALERSHIPS OR SERVICE CENTERS AND WILL PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH SCHEDULING OF APPOINTMENTS.
