The contact owns a 2007 Forest River Palomino travel trailer equipped with Towstar STR Tires, Tire Line: ST Radial, Tire Size: ST225/75/R15, DOT Number: 1ADB4HFT13718. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the front driver’s side tire experienced a blowout. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the highway and replaced the front driver’s side tire with a spare. A dealer was not contacted. ON CERTAIN FIFTH WHEEL TRAILERS, THE GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING (GVWR) LABEL LOCATED ON THE FRONT OF THE HITCH PIN BOX OF THE UNIT CONTAINS AN IMPROPER LISTING OF THE GVWR.
Consequence: THIS LABEL IS GIVING CONFLICTING GVWR INFORMATION. THE GVWR OF THE TRAILER IS 18,000 LBS AND THE HITCH LABEL IS READING 15,500.
Remedy: OWNERS WERE MAILED A CORRECTED LABEL AS WELL AS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. THE CUSTOMER WILL HAVE THE OPTION FOR DEALERS TO INSTALL THIS LABEL IF THEY PREFER. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 1, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FOREST RIVER AT 574-389-4600.
