I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE THAT NEEDED TO BE HANDLED BY FIAT. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING, INCLUDING CITY STREETS AND ON A 65 MPH HIGHWAY. THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER (WHILE DRIFTING) AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE DISPLAY CLEARS. FIAT SERVICE UPDATED VEHICLE CONTROL MODULES TO NO AVAIL. Recall history
1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
17V146000 · Tires:Pressure Monitoring And Regulating Systems
Reported: 2017-03-07 (March 7, 2017)
Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2017 Fiat 500X vehicles. When the vehicle has a tire with low tire pressure, the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light may not illuminate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."
Consequence: Driving a vehicle with an underinflated tire may result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Fiat will notify owners, and dealers will update the instrument panel software, free of charge. The recall began April 13, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T16.
