Owner report 10220925 · 2008-03-12 (March 12, 2008)

MY EZ LOADER ALUMINUM BOAT TRAILER NEARLY HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE MAIN TONGUE BEAM THAT APPEARS TO BE A DIRECT RESULT OF WEAK MATERIALS AND POOR LOCATION OF LARGE DRILLED HOLES FOR LIGHTING. WHILE I MANAGED TO CATCH THE SITUATION BEFORE COMPLETE FAILURE, THE CRACKING HAPPENED BEHIND MANUFACTURER INSTALLED LIGHTING MASKING THE INITIAL FAILURE STAGES. MY CONCERN IS THAT OTHERS MAY NOT BE AS FORTUNATE IN SEEING THE PROBLEM. SAFETY CHAINS WILL NOT HELP WITH THIS TYPE OF FAILURE! PLEASE NOTE: THE TRAILER IS AN EZ-LOADER NOT DOOLITTLE MFG.…

Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

05V390000 · Suspension:Front:Wheel Bearing

Reported: 2005-09-06 (September 6, 2005)

ON CERTAIN BOAT TRAILERS, A BEARING OF INCORRECT SIZE WAS INSTALLED IN THE WHEEL AXLE ASSEMBLIES.

Consequence: THE TIRE, WHEEL AND BRAKE DRUM ASSEMBLY COULD SEPARATE FROM THE TRAILER WHILE UNDERWAY, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE CORRECT BEARING. IF FAILURE HAS OCCURRED, THE ENTIRE HUB, SPINDLE OR AXLE MAY BE REPLACED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 5, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT EZ LOADERS AT 800-398-5623.
