ON JUNE 26TH AS I WAS RETRIEVING MY NEW 20' SWEETWATER TUSCANY 2086 PONTOON BOAT ON ITS 2010 EZ LOADER TRAILER (MODEL: EZP 18-20 SN:[XXX] ), I GOT THE BOAT HALF WAY UP THE RAMP WHEN THE BOAT WENT OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TRAILER. THE WINCH STRAP AND SAFETY CHAIN WERE CONNECTED AND I KNEW THE BOAT WAS SITTING ON THE FRONT BUNKS WHEN I STARTED UP THE RAMP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 EZ LOADER TRAILER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PULLING THE TRAILER WITH HIS ONE TON DODGE RAM ON PICKUP 55 MPH ALL OF THE BRAKES ON THE TRAILER FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY STATED THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE TRAILER WAS TAKEN TO THE CONTACTS MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE TRAILER WAS REPAIRED. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND THE BRAKES CAUGHT FIRE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE AXLES. THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM. DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE THE CON…

10V214000 · Power Train:Axle Assembly

EZ LOADER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 EZ LOADER SINGLE AXLE BOAT TRAILERS. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR THE SPINDLE TO SEPARATE FROM THE AXLE CAUSING THE TIRE AND WHEEL TO SEPARATE FROM THE TRAILER WHILE UNDERWAY.

Consequence: THIS OCCURRENCE COULD RESULT IN A CRASH WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL HAVE REPAIR TEAMS TO COME TO WHERE THE TRAILER IS LOCATED AND MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS OR, OWNERS MAY HAVE THE TRAILER TRANSPORTED TO A DEALER OR ANOTHER REPAIR FACILITY CAPABLE OF PERFORMING THE REPAIRS. THIS SERVICE WILL BE PERFORMED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 31, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT EZ LOADER AT 800-398-5623.
