TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1984 DODGE RAMPAGE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD WHILE PARKED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 223,236. THE CONSUMER STATED WOULD LIKE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE RECALL NOTICE WHICH SHOWED ON THE INSURANCE PAPERS AND WOULD LIKE IT INVESTIGATED. UPDATED 09/18/07 *TR

Reported: 1984-11-21 (November 21, 1984)

THE POTENTIAL FOR FUEL LEAKAGE EXISTS IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE FUEL RESERVOIR SEAM AND ITS HOSE CONNECTIONS. THE FUEL RESERVOIR IS A SILVER COLORED CAN MOUNTED TO THE AIR CLEANER.

Remedy: THE HOSES AND THE METAL TUBE THAT ATTACHES TO THE FUEL RESERVOIR WILL BE REPLACED WITH NEW COMPONENTS. THE DEALER WILL ALSO REPLACE OR RESEAL THE RESERVOIR.
