TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 DODGE RAM 1500 LARAMIE. UPON PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN 2008, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE COMPATIBLE WITH A CAB. HE HAD A CAB INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE TAILGATE LOCKING MECHANISM WOULD NOT OPERATE WITH THE EXTENDED CAB ATTACHMENT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE EXTENDED CAB WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE VEHICLE AND WOULD TRY INSTALLING ANOTHER ONE. THE DEALER LATER STATED THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO INSTALL A SECOND CAB. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 4,00…

THE HEATED AND VENTILATED OPTION SEATS IN THE 2009 DODGE RAM FAIL PREMATURELY. I HAVE A 2009 DODGE RAM CREW CAB LARMIE WITH 1400 MILES. SEAT COVER REPLACED AT 800 MILES BY DODGE. SEAT COVER REPLACING AGAIN AT 1400 MILES. I ALSO HAVE A 2009 DODGE RAM QUAD CAB, SAME HEATED VENTILATED SEATS. IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED NOW WITH 415 MILES TOTAL MILES ON THE TRUCK. CHRYSLER HAS A REAL PROBLEM WITH THE HEATED VENTILATED LEATHER TRIMMED SEAT COVERS AND THEY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE MY COMPLAINT. *TR

AT ABOUT 1200 MILES ON VEHICLE NOTICED A LOW SQUEAL SOUND FROM ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION. AT PRESENT THERE IS 1500 MILES ON VEHICLE AND THE SQUEAL HAS GOTTEN WORST. THE NOISE BEGINS AFTER ABOUT ONE OR TWO MINUTES OF STARTING, AND IS CONTUMELY SQUEALING. THE DEALER SHIP RAN TEST AND SAID IT WAS NORMAL. I DROVE ANOTHER 2009 1500 RAM AND THE NOISE WAS NOT THERE, OR IN THE NEXT 1500 RAM FROM ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO GO ANY FURTHER WITH THE PROBLEM, QUOTE: WE CAN'T FIGURE WHERE THE NOISE IS COMING FROM, SO IT MUST BE NORMAL UNQUOT…

THE CHROME TRIM RING AROUND THE SHIFTER ON THE CONSOLE MOUNTED SHIFTER REFLECTS THE SUN RIGHT BACK INTO YOUR EYES DURING CERTAIN TIMES OF THE DAY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS GLARE IN YOUR VISION. I MUST COVER THAT AREA WITH MY HAND TO BLOCK THE REFLECTION. I CANNOT HAVE BOTH OF MY HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I CANNOT LEGALLY TINT MY FRONT SIDE WINDOWS OR THE FRONT WINDSHIELD TO LESSEN THE LIGHT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. *TR

Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

12V474000 · Power Train:Driveline:Differential Unit

Reported: 2012-10-02 (October 2, 2012)

Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2009-2010, Ram 1500 and Dodge Dakota trucks, manufactured from July 1, 2009, through November 30, 2009, because the rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to a lack of adhesive.

Consequence: If the rear axle pinion nut loosens, the axle can lock up and cause a loss of vehicle control and/or a vehicle crash with little warning.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install a pinion nut retainer, free of charge. The recall began on June 17, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753.

13V038000 · Power Train:Driveline:Differential Unit

Reported: 2013-02-06 (February 6, 2013)

Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Ram 1500 trucks manufactured from February 27, 2008, through June 30, 2009, and from December 1, 2009, through October 20, 2011; model year 2009-2011 Dodge Dakota trucks manufactured from February 27, 2007, through June 30, 2009, and from December 1, 2009, through September 30, 2011; model year 2009 Chrysler Aspen trucks manufactured from January 3, 2008, through December 18, 2008; and model year 2009 Dodge Durango trucks manufactured from January 3, 2008, through December 18, 2008. The rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to an undersized pinion spline that can allow relative motion between the nut and companion flange.

Consequence: If the rear axle pinion nut loosens, the axle can lock up and cause a loss of vehicle control and/or a vehicle crash with little warning.

Remedy: On November 7, 2013 Chrysler notified owners that dealers would install a pinion nut retainer, free of charge. In July 2015, and under a consent order with NHTSA, the company agreed to offer owners three options for remedying their vehicles: perform the original remedy, offer to repurchase the vehicle at the fair market value plus 10%, or offer an additional incentive offer towards the purchase of a new Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, or Fiat vehicle. Chrysler will notify owners of the new recall options in a letter expected to be mailed on August 31, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N08.
