NOTICED RIGHT REAR MICHELIN XW4 XL TIRE(P23575R15) HAD LOST ITS TREAD. TREAD HAD WRAPPED AROUND & HIT VEHICLE. STILL HAS THE TIRE.*AK DOT#B3DD881X083. THERE WAS SOME DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE TREAD SEPARATION. *SLC

1995, MAXIVAN; WHEN DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 65 MPH DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR POPPED OPEN DUE TO METAL WHICH FATIGUED/BROKE AROUND DOOR WHICH HELD LATCH. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

94V163000 · Parking Brake:Conventional:Mechanical:Linkage And Cable

Reported: 1994-09-16 (September 16, 1994)

THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE IS ROUTED TO THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL CAUSING IT TO CROSS AND CONTACT THE STEEL BRAKE LINE. THIS CAN CAUSE THE ABRASION AND RUPTURE OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINE RESULTING IN A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID.

Consequence: LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID DUE TO THE RUPTURE OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINE CAUSES LOSS OF REAR BRAKING CAPABILITY WHICH CAN RESULT IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCES AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REROUTE THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE AWAY FROM THE STEEL BRAKE LINE. THE STEEL BRAKE LINE WILL BE REPLACED IF ABRASION OR WEAR IS EVIDENT.
