Battery died twice on 2 separate occasions since the day car was received on 1/17. Car was ‘serviced’ after the first time battery died, but this morning I could not get it to turn on again. This car has been giving me nothing but issues and I haven’t had it for a month yet.

The contact owned a 2024 Dodge Hornet. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he observed brown smoke emanating from the vent in the interior of the vehicle, prompting him to pull to the shoulder of the roadway. After which, upon exiting the vehicle, he observed smoke emanating from the engine compartment. Shortly afterward, the vehicle became engulfed in flames originating from the engine compartment. While driving, the power steering control locked up making the vehicle difficult to steer. Immediately after, all warning lights turned on including the check engine light, ABS, and others.

The contact rented a 2024 Dodge Hornet PHEV. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the message "Forward Collision Avoidance” was disabled and "SOS call failed" were displayed. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000. The VIN was not available.

Just purchased a 2024 Dodge Hornet for my daughter on [XXX] She was involved in an accident on [XXX]. Cause of the accident was brake failure - as a result of said failure, she stuck a fuel truck going 45 mph on a highway offramp. Airbags did not deploy, seat belt did not lock. Why did this happen on a brand-new vehicle with under 500 miles on it. on 07/29/2024 while driving in heavy rain, the entire instrument panel went completely dark. Re-illuminated when car was started on 07/30/2024. On 07/31/2024 at moment car came to full stop in parking spot, the car SELF-ACCELERATED, while brake was still applied, and CRASHED into concrete block supporting a street lamp. 3 young children were in car with adult driver. Nothing on my personal vehicle has failed yet, but the fact that Stellantis has this recall issue with the Hornets and there is no immediate fix nor will they provide a loaner vehicle is absurd and unacceptable. The safety of many is put at risk by the brakes having the potential to fail. This issue could seriously injure or even kill people.

25V846000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Pedals And Linkages
Reported: 2025-12-09 (December 9, 2025)
Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2024 Dodge Hornet and Alfa Romeo Tonale Plug-In Hybrid Electric (PHEV) vehicles. The brake pedal may collapse and cause a loss of brake function.
Consequence: A loss of brake function increases the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will reinforce the brake pedal arm, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 13, 2026. Owners may contact FCA Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403. FCA's number for this recall is D0C. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning December 16, 2025. This recall is an expansion of previous NHTSA recall number 24V752.
