2018 Dodge CHALLENGER: complaints, problems and recalls

THE UCONNECT RADIO SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING IN THE CARS. AS SUCH, THE SYSTEM REBOOTS THE RADIO EVERY 30 SECONDS. THE RADIO CONTROLS THE BACKUP CAMERA AMONG OTHER THINGS. SINCE IT CONTINUOUSLY REBOOTS EVERY THIRTY SECONDS, THE BACKUP CAMERA FAILS AND YOU.CANNOT SEE PEOPLE BEHIND YOU. THE POTENTIAL FOR HITTING PEDESTRIANS IS HORRIBLE. PEOPLE COULD BE KILLED BY THIS. DODGE KNOWS ABOUT AND DOESN'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED.

WEATHER ALERTS KEEP POPPING UP ON MY RADIO SCREEN, REQUIRING ME TO READ THEM AND TAP ON THE OK BUTTON TO MAKE THEM GO AWAY. THEY ARE ACCOMPANIED WITH NOISE/SOUND TO GET MY ATTENTION. THERE IS NO OPTION TO DISABLE THESE ALERTS AND IT HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING TO WORK IN THE MORNING, ON MY LUNCH BREAK, OR ON MY RIDE HOME. MY RADIO SCREEN CONSTANTLY KEEPS REBOOTING OR GOING ON AND OFF. EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP IN THE STREET OR ON THE HIGHWAY IT GOES OFF, THEN I HIT ANOTHER SMALL BUMP AND IT COMES BACK ON. SOMETIMES I DON'T HAVE TO DO A ANYTHING, JUST BE SITTING PARKED, AND IT GOES OUT, WHICH IN TURN, I CAN NOT USE MY BACKUP SCREEN CAUSE IT'S NOT THERE! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 DODGE CHALLENGER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, IT ROLLED BACKWARDS INTO THE BUSHES. ALSO, WHEN THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, THE GEAR SHIFTED IN NEUTRAL INDEPENDENTLY. BRAND NEW 2018 CHALLENGER WITH RUSTED CONTROL ARMS IN THE FRONT, CHRYSLER SAYS IT IS NOT A RECALL, AND WILL NOT REPAIR. DEALER CHECKED ALL THE CHARGERS AND CHALLENGERS ON THE LOT AND SAID THEY WERE ALL THIS WAY. CAR HAS 2000 MILES ON IT, I REPORTED IT AT 200 MILES. SEE PICTURES.

I WAS DRIVING AT 35 MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL, I TRIED LETTING GO OFF THE ACCELERATION AS I DID THE CAR WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN AND IT STARTED TO WOBBLE SIDE TO SIDE IT HIT A CURB AND THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL SIDE CAME OFF AND BACK SIDE FLATTENED AND MADE A COUPLE OF DENTS INTO THE RIGHT SIDE

STARTED VEHICLE UP, PRESSED AUTO FOR AUTO CLIMATE AND THE LIGHT TURNED ON BUT THAT WAS IT. PRESSED MAX A/C ON THE UCONNECT SYSTEM, STILL NOTHING. WHILE DRIVING AROUND I TURNED CLIMATE CONTROL OFF AND BACK ON TO MAX A/C ABOUT 4 DIFFERENT TIMES TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK AND NOTHING.

STARTED VEHICLE UP, WENT TO PRESS CAR PLAY ON THE UCONNECT SCREEN AND NOTHING HAPPENED. TRIED PRESSING RADIO, APPS, CLIMATE, NOTHING WOULD WORK. TURNED SCREEN OFF THEN BACK ON AND STILL NOTHING WOULD WORK. SOMETIMES IF I GO INTO REVERSE AND THE BACKUP CAMERA COMES UP, THEN GO BACK TO NEUTRAL/ANY OTHER GEAR EVERYTHING WORKS AGAIN. THEN OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY THEN RESTART IT FOR EVERYTHING TO START WORKING AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 7-8 TIMES SINCE PURCHASE NEW MAY 31, 2018

Reported: 2018-05-01 (May 1, 2018)

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Dodge Charger, Durango and Challenger, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, Chrysler 300, and RAM 1500 vehicles. An incorrect transmission park lock rod may have been installed in the transmission.

Consequence: If the incorrect park lock rod is installed, the transmission may not shift into 'PARK' and keep the vehicle from moving, increasing the risk of unintended vehicle movement and the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will install the correct park lock rod, free of charge. The recall began June 28, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U43.

Reported: 2018-05-17 (May 17, 2018)

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Consequence: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018 Jeep Renegade, Compass and Grand Cherokee, RAM 1500 and Promaster, Fiat 500x, Dodge Journey, Challenger, Charger and Durango and Chrysler 300x vehicles, 2017-2018 Jeep Wrangler, Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country vehicles and 2018-2019 Jeep Cherokee and 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Hybrid vehicles. The powertrain control module may be equipped with a voltage regulator chip in the circuit board that may fail, causing a stall or a no start condition.

Consequence: A vehicle stall can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began October 2, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is U87.
