Owner report 10422716 · 2011-08-31 (August 31, 2011)

THIS STANDARD TRANSMISSION 2010 DODGE CALIBER CONTINUALLY STALLS OUT WHEN THE CAR IS IN NEUTRAL, SUCH AS AT INTERSECTIONS, RAILROAD CROSSINGS, TOLL BOOTHS, AND PARKING LOTS. IT USUALLY TAKES FIVE TO TEN MINUTES OF ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE CAR WILL RESTART. THIS POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE OFTEN TRUCKS OR OTHER CARS DRIVING UP BEHIND ME BARELY SLOW DOWN IN TIME, EVEN THOUGH MY FLASHERS ARE BLINKING. LAST WEEKEND I WAS ALMOST HIT FROM BEHIND BY A LARGE TRUCK WHILE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO GET THE CAR RE-STARTED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. DODGE RE…

2010 DODGE CAILBER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FRONT WINDSHIELD PROBLEM. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING HOME, HE NOTICED SMALL CRACKS IN THE WINDSHIELD. SOME WERE STRAIGHT, BUT MOST WERE CURVED AND SOME WERE ALMOST A PART CIRCLE LIKE THE EDGE OF A BUBBLE. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE FLAWS WERE IN THE CENTER LAYER OF THE GLASS BECAUSE THE OUTER SURFACE SEEMED COMPLETELY SMOOTH. THE CRACKS COULD ONLY BE SEEN WHEN ONE LOOKED THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD INTO THE LIGHT. THE CRACKS CAUSED REFRACTIONS OF LIGHT THAT HINDERED THE VISION OF THE C…

EVERY SO OFTEN THE CAR WILL NOT START WHEN YOU PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURN IT. IT DOES NOTHING, MAKES NO NOISE. IT ACTS AS IF YOU DID NOTHING. YOU TURN THE KEY AND NOTHING HAPPENS. MOST TIMES, WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY BACK TO THE ORIGINAL POSITION AND TRY AGAIN, IT WILL START AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. IT IS JUST WEIRD. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST 15 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. *TR

Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

10V197000 · Latches/Locks/Linkages:Doors:Latch

Reported: 2010-05-11 (May 11, 2010)

CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 DODGE CALIBER VEHICLES. SOME VEHICLES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH AN INCORRECT DOOR LOCK ROD IN THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR.

Consequence: AN UNLATCHED DOOR COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF AN UNBELTED FRONT SEAT PASSENGER BEING EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE FRONT RIGHT DOOR LOCK ROD AS REQUIRED FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING JUNE 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.

16V668000 · Seat Belts:Pretensioner | Air Bags:Frontal:Sensor/Control Module-Inactive | Air Bags

Reported: 2016-09-15 (September 15, 2016)

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2011-2014 Chrysler 200, 2010 Chrysler Sebring, 2010-2012 Dodge Caliber and 2010-2014 Jeep Patriot, Compass and Dodge Avenger vehicles. The Occupant Restraint Control (OCR) module may short circuit, preventing the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags from deploying in the event of a crash.

Consequence: If the frontal air bags, seat belt pretensioners, and side air bags are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a vehicle crash that necessitates deployment of these safety systems.

Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the OCR, free of charge. Interim letters informing owners that parts are not available yet were mailed on October 26, 2016. The recall began on August 15, 2017. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is S61.
