TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 COUNTRY COACH MPV LOW PROFILE DUMP TRAILER. THE VEHICLE WEIGHED 14,000 POUNDS. ON APRIL 23, 2007 THE CONTACT WAS LOADING THE TRAILER AND BUMPED INTO A SECTION OF THE TAILGATE. THE TAILGATE FELL OFF. HE LOOKED AT THE WELL , AND NOTICED THAT THE METAL WAS IMPROPERLY FUSED TOGETHER. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE ENTIRE TRAILER, AND NOTICED THAT A LARGE NUMBER OF WELLS WERE IMPROPERLY ATTACHED. HE TOOK PICTURES OF THE TRAILER. THE DEALER REFERRED HIM TO APPALACHIAN MANUFACTURER INCORPORATION. HE SPOKE WITH A REPRESENT…

Reported: 2007-09-25 (September 25, 2007)
ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES BUILT ON PREVOST CHASSIS AND EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX SR-7 SPRING BRAKE MODULATING VALVES, THE INTERNAL RUBBER CHECK VALVE MAY LEAK CAUSING A DELAY IN THE APPLICATION OF THE SPRING BRAKES TO PARK THE VEHICLE AFTER THE OPERATOR PULLS THE DASH VALVE BUTTON.
Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE A DELAY OR FAILURE IN APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKES WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE ROLL AWAY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: COUNTRY COACH IS WORKING WITH PREVOST AND BENDIX TO REPAIR THESE VEHICLES (PLEASE SEE 07E-037). BENDIX WILL INSTALL A CHECK VALVE REPAIR KIT FOR THE AFFECTED SR-7 SPRING BRAKE MODULATING VALVE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 25, 2007.
