TRAILER WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT AT 65 MPH ON NJ ROUTE 78 EASTBOUND WHEN THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE TIRE TREAD BLEW APART FROM THE CARCASS. TRAILER HAD A FUNCTIONING TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF MILE BEFORE BLOWOUT THE PRESSURES WERE BETWEEN 85-86 PSI AND THE WHEEL TEMPS WERE BELOW 100 DEGREES. THE TRAILER WAS SCALED AT 8800 POUNDS, TRAILER AXLE AT 7860 POUNDS. THESE ARE WELL BELOW THE MANUFACTURERS MAX RATINGS ON THE TRAILER'S PLACARD. THE TPMS ALERTED TO A RAPID AIR LOSS. THE GOODRIDE TRAILER TIRE …

Purchased travel trailer new 8-31-19. The tires Goodride radial ST 100 225/75/R15 have less than 5,000 miles of highway use. Had a vibration in the tow vehicle for about 600 miles (we only travel about 200 miles per day)when the drivers side front tire on the travel trailer blew. We immediately pulled off to the side of the highway. Upon inspection of the tire it appears that the cause was the belt separated. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2019 Coachmen Catalina and Apex travel trailers and Forest River Shasta, Wildwood, Salem, Vibe, Sierra, Sandpiper, XLR and Prime Time travel trailers. The axles may be missing inner bearing races on the hubs, which can cause the bearing to burnout or cause the hub to overheat.
Consequence: The missing bearing race may cause premature hub bearing failure, possibly resulting in a separation of the hub from the axle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the defective hubs with new hubs or replace the axles, free of charge. The recall began October 9, 2018. Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017-2025 Coachmen Catalina, 2020-2025 Aurora, and 2025 Puma travel trailers. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) on the Federal placard may exceed the safety chain rating. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 110, "Tire Selection and Rims" and 120, "Wheels and Rims - Other Than Passenger Cars."
Consequence: An incorrect weight rating may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Forest River will mail owners a corrected Federal Placard with application instructions, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 24, 2025. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 5745-825-4995, and Puma customer service at 1-574-642-0588. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-1895.
