HOW AM I TO FEEL ABOUT STRAPPING IN MY 12 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER OR WIFE IN A VEHICLE WITH EQUIPMENT THAT COULD RESULT IN THEIR DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY? *AK

THERE WAS A HOWLING NOISE COMING FROM VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND WAS UNABLE TO THE DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE DEALER SUGGESTED IT WAS A CUSTOMARY NOISE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, BUT THE SOUND STILL EXISTED. THE VAN WAS TAKEN AGAIN AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS REPLACED BUT THERE WAS STILL NO RESULT. (THIS WAS THE 5TH TIME TAKEN TO THE DEALER WITH NO RESULT) THE NOISE SEEMED TO COME WHEN ACCELERATING. *SCC *JB

THE HORN WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *JB THE HORN WAS REPORTED 3 TIMES. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS THE WAY THE HORN WAS DESIGNED. THE CONSUMER TRIED TO USE THE HORN 3 TIMES IN ORDER TO AVOID CONTACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. (THE HORN DID NOT WORK DUE TO THE CENTRAL POINT) *SCC *JB

04V386000 · Steering:Hydraulic Power Assist:Hose, Piping, And Connections
Reported: 2004-08-05 (August 5, 2004)
ON CERTAIN MINIVANS EQUIPPED WITH 3.3 OR 3.8L V-6 ENGINE, THE UPPER POWER STEERING COOLER HOSE MAY SPLIT AND CAUSE A FLUID LEAK.
Consequence: POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE CAN RESULT IN AN UNDER HOOD FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE UPPER POWER STEERING COOLER HOSE. THIS RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
