VEHICLE: 2004 CHEVROLET SSR PROBLEM: FLIMSY HOOD PROP ROD AND A VERY HEAVY HOOD. THE ROD SLIPPED AND THE HOOD FELL. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN. SOLUTION: THE 2005 CHEVROLET SSR IS REPORTED TO HAVE A SELF SUPPORTING PNEUMATIC LIFT. THE 2003 AND 2004 SSRS SHOULD BE RETROFITTED BY CHEVROLET AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.

2004 CHEVROLET SSR: HOOD PROP FAILURE. THE FLIMSY HOOD PROP HOLDING THE GIGANTIC SSR HOOD IS BENT. I HAVE PURCHASED AN ALUMINUM HOOD PROP TO USE INSTEAD OF THE FAULTY FACTORY THIN PROP. MANY HAVE FAILED AND HOODS HAVE FALLEN ALL THE WAY CLOSED. MINE WOULD TOO WERE I TO CONTINUE USE. JG

VEHICLE TYPE: 2004 CHEVY SSR PROBLEM/COMPLAINT: INTERIOR DOOR LATCH FAILURE, CAN'T EXIT VEHICLE. 1. DRIVERS INTERIOR DOOR LATCH STARTS TO TAKE 3-4 PULLS TO OPEN DOOR AND THEN WITHIN THE WEEK THE INTERIOR DOOR LATCH COMPLETELY FAILS REQUIRING THE POWER WINDOW TO BE OPENED AND THE DOOR OPENED FROM THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. IF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILS IN AN ACCIDENT OR OTHER REASON THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. I CALLED MY DEALER TO REPAIR THE LATCH, BUT HE IS NOT SURE WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE IN. *NM

I CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITHOUT USING THE OUTSIDE LATCH. THE HANDLE IS BROKEN AND THE LOCAL DEALER STATES HE HAS TO ORDER THE LATCH FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM DUE TO HAVING TO LOWER THE WINDOW FOR SAFE EXIT, OR ANY EXIT. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE? *JB
