DILL TR-413 VALVE STEM FAILURES WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE RESULTED IN THE IRREPARABLE DAMAGE TO TWO (2) TIRES. TIRE DEALER UNAWARE OF RECALL ON VALVE STEMS, AND NOT WILLING TO EVEN CONSIDER REPLACING TIRES, EVEN USING A PRO-RATED SYSTEM. I FEEL THAT THE FAILURE OF THESE VALVE STEMS AND THE DAMAGED TIRES SHOULD BE DILL'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CORRECT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1991 CHEVROLET S10 PICKUP. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WITH A BOAT IN TOW, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FISH TAIL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO THE RAILING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT NOTICED A CABLE FROM THE SPARE TIRE HOIST HAD FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE BOAT AND VEHICLE WERE DAMAGED, AS WELL AS THE SPARE TIRE, RIM AND REAR AXLE OF THE TRAILER.
