ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEMS DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. DOOR HINGES PREVIOUSLY REPLACE WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY NO LONGER OPERATE PROPERLY THEY ARE EITHER BROKEN OR STUCK. SEAT BELTS ARE TWISTED OR FAIL TO RETRACT. FRONT DOORS HAVE SHIFTED DOWNWARD. REAR POWER RECLINING SEAT IS STUCK IN DOWN POSITION. WAS STRUCK ON FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 55MPH AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. RECENTLY HAD TO HAVE EGR VALVE REPLACED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT MY 1995 VAN HAD 1996 PARTS. COULD NOT FIND THIS PART IN ANY AUTO PARTS STORE IN TOWN SO I ENDED …

FRONT END- WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ENTIRE FRONT END SHIMMIES AND VIBRATES MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VAN. WE HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VAN FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS BUT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING.

DT: THE CONTACT STATED ONE MONTH AGO HE NOTICED A BRAKE PROBLEM. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE AT ANY SPEED THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WERE NO BRAKES. JUST AS HE WAS PRESSING THE PEDAL THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER HE WAS OFF OF THE PEDAL THE LIGHT DISAPPEARED. HE THE CONTACT CITED RECALL 99I006000. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY TOLD HIM THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 CHEVROLET G20. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH AND APPLIED THE BRAKES WHEN THE PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SHOULDER AND COASTED TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME WHERE AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC EXAMINED THE VEHICLE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TRAVELING STRAIGHT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (65MPH), ON A VERY SMOOTH HIGHWAY, A LOUD POP WAS HEARD AND MY FRONT END DRIVER'S SIDE SUSPENSION COLLAPSED. I VEERED LEFT, STARTED TO ROLL, AND WAS RIGHTED BY A TOYOTA TACOMA IN THE LANE TO MY LEFT. THE TACOMA PROCEEDED TO WRAP AROUND THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE COLLIDING WITH A VEHICLE IN THE LANE TO MY RIGHT. TWO VEHICLES WERE TOTALED AND THE DRIVER OF THE TACOMA SUSTAINED INJURIES. BOTH THE SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT (SIR) CAUTION LABEL AND AN ENGINE START LABEL WERE INSTALLED ON THE SAME SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SUN VISOR. THIS DOES NOT COMPLY WITH FMVSS NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."
Consequence: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: OPERATORS COULD FAIL TO NOTICE AND HEED THE WARNING LABELS.
Remedy: A NEW LABEL, WITH INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, WILL BE SENT DIRECTLY TO OWNERS. OWNERS WILL INSTALL THE LABEL OR CAN HAVE THEIR DEALER INSTALL THE LABEL FOR THEM.

THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH A SLIDING SIDE-DOOR REAR LATCH THAT WAS IMPROPERLY RIVETED. THIS DOES NOT MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 206, "DOOR LOCKS AND DOOR RETENTION COMPONENTS."
Consequence: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE DOOR WILL NOT PERFORM AS REQUIRED BY THE STANDARD.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SLIDING DOOR REAR LATCH ON ALL SUSPECT VEHICLES.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CHEVROLET AND GMC G VANS EQUIPPED WITH SLIDING SIDE DOORS AND REMEDIED DURING SAFETY CAMPAIGN (95V197/95-C-58) BETWEEN JULY 18, 1997 AND FEBRUARY 6, 1999. THE SLIDING SIDE-DOOR REAR LATCH WAS REPLACED WITH A LATCH THAT WAS IMPROPERLY RIVETED.
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, THE DOOR MAY NOT PERFORM AS REQUIRED AND INCREASED INJURIES COULD RESULT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE SLIDING DOOR REAR LATCH.
