TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1993 CHEVROLET G20. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED, BUT STALLED AND SHUT OFF WHEN THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO THE DRIVE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE INCH AND A HALF LONG RUBBER HOSE FITTING, NEAR THE FUEL PUMP, WAS SPLIT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 74,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.

THE DRIVERS SHOULDER AND LAP BELT IS PHYSICALLY TOO SHORT IN LENGTH AND PREVENTS FORWARD OR LATERAL MOVEMENT OF MORE THAN JUST A FEW INCHES, EVEN IF THE BRAKES ARE NOT APPLIED AND THE DRIVER MOVES HIS TORSO FORWARD SLOWLY SO AS NOT TO TRIGGER THE LOCKING MECHANISM. I AM NOT A LARGE PERSON ALTHOUGH MY HEIGHT 6'1" AND MY FRAME 210LBS. WOULD PUT MY IN THE UPPER PERCENTILE OF DRIVERS. BECAUSE THE BELT IS SO SHORT , IT BECOMES NECESSARY TO UNBUCKLE THE SEAT BELT TO PERFORM SUCH SIMPLE TASKS AS FLIPPING THE REAR VIEW MIRROR WHEN CONFRONTED WITH A VEH…

VEHICLE HAS BEEN AN ELECTRICAL NIGHTMARE - FEEL VERY UNSAFE AND I TRANSPORT LIVE ANIMALS TO SHOWS AS WELL AS EQUIPMENT AND PASSENGERS - VERY CONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLE FIRE. HAVE HAD TO DRIVE SHIFT INTERLOCK MECHANISM BY STARTING VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND THEN SHIFTING OUT OF GEAR - DEALER HAS ADJUSTED AND REPLACED THIS FEATURE 5 TIMES ALSO REAR BACK UP LIGHTS ARE INTERMITENT AND HIGH REAR BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT WORK.

Reported: 1994-03-23 (March 23, 1994)

THESE VEHICLES WERE EQUIPPED WITH INCORRECT SPARE WHEELS. THE USE OF AN INCORRECT SPARE WHEEL IN A MOUNTED POSITION CAN, UNDER CERTAIN LOAD CONDITIONS, EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE WHEEL TO CRACK AND POSSIBLY SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE.

Consequence: SHOULD THE WHEEL CRACK AND SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE, LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL CAN OCCUR, RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH WITHOUT WARNING.

94V128000 · Interior Lighting

Reported: 1994-07-11 (July 11, 1994)

THE TRANSFORMER USED TO POWER THE NEON CENTER LIGHTBEAM CAN OVERHEAT AND CATCH ON FIRE.

Consequence: THE OVERHEATING AND FIRES CAUSED BY THE NEON TRANSFORMER CAN RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE LIGHTBEAM ASSEMBLY, THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE, AND COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE FIRE.

Remedy: MARK III DEALERS WILL MODIFY THE ASSEMBLIES TO ELIMINATE THE NEON LIGHTING FIXTURE IN THE VEHICLE AND REPLACE IT WITH INCANDESCENT LIGHTS OPERATING DIRECTLY FROM THE VEHICLE 12-VOLT BATTERY.

Reported: 1994-09-14 (September 14, 1994)

THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BACK HEIGHT DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 202, "HEAD RESTRAINTS."

Consequence: CONSEQUENCE OF NON-COMPLIANCE: SEAT OCCUPANTS ARE SUBJECT TO INCREASED RISK OF INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A SUDD STOP OR ACCIDENT.

Remedy: SHERRY DESIGNS WILL PROVIDE AN ATTACHABLE HEADREST FOR THE DEALER OR CUSTOMER TO ADD TO THE SEATS.
