AS THE OWNER OF A 2000 CHEVROLET BLAZER, COUP (VIN: [XXX]) I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO CONTINUE PURCHASING CHEVROLET VEHICLES IN THE FUTURE. PURCHASED NEW 2003 CHEVROLET BLAZER WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION ON 08/08/2003. I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR ON 08/09/2003, BUT DROVE IT AGAIN ON 08/10/2002. TWICE ON 08/08/2003, AND FOUR TIMES ON 08/10/2003, WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP, I EXPERIENCED A SIGNIFICANT FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH SUBSTANTIALLY IMPAIRS THE USE AND SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. CERTAIN PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 208, "OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTION."
Consequence: SOME OF THESE VEHICLES INCLUDE INCORRECT STATEMENTS ON ONE OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LABELS.
Remedy: OWNERS WILL BE PROVIDED WITH CORRECT LABELS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON JUNE 4, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438 OR GMC AT 1-866-996-9463.
