DRIVING MY SPYDER ON THE INTERSTATE IT WOULD SHOW A CODE DPS ON MY DISPLAY AND AS LONG AS IT DISPLAYED YOU COULD NOT STEER MOTORCYCLE. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST SIX TIMES IN ONE WEEK. YOU COULD STOP AND SHUT UNIT OFF THEN RESTART AND GO 50 TO 100 MILES THEN FLASH CODE DPS AGAIN. THE FAULT CODE P0550 WAS STORED AS LONG AS BIKE WAS RUNNING.

While driving the vehicle a clunking sound was heard and at the same time I experienced a loss of propulsion. The vehicle is currently in the process of being repaired as it was determined that the front drive sprocket main drive shaft had sheared. Fortunately I was able to pull off the highway at an intersection onto a much less congested street. There were not warning lights or indications that forewarned me of this event. The contact owns a 2018 Can-Am Spyder RT. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V352000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Referance Recall Number 24V728. On 22 Jan 2025 manufacturer BRP indicates vehicle does NOT require defective output shaft replacement for vehicles with mileage over 37282. My vehicle has a little over 40,000 miles. In Part 573 Safety Recall 24V-728 (22 Jan 2025) "Vehicle 2" states "All the My2018 population was assembled with the new flexation method and are included". 22V352000 · Power Train:Manual Transmission

Reported: 2022-05-18 (May 18, 2022)

Bombardier Recreational Products, Inc. (BRP) is recalling certain 2015-2019 Can-Am Spyder F3 and RT motorcycles. The front sprocket may be defective and prematurely wear, resulting in a loss of drive power.

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will perform an interim repair until parts become available. Once parts are available, the front sprocket will be replaced, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 26, 2022. Owners may contact BRP customer service at 1-888-272-9222.

24V728000 · Power Train:Manual Transmission:Internal:Shaft:Output

Reported: 2024-09-30 (September 30, 2024)

Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is recalling certain 2017-2019 Can-Am Spyder F3 and RT motorcycles. The engine output shaft may fatigue and break, resulting in a loss of drive power.

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: The output shaft will be replaced based on the mileage of the vehicles. Owner notification letters were mailed February 5, 2025. Owners may contact BRP customer service at 1-888-272-9222.
