THE ENGINE STALLS WHEN SLOWING FOR A STOP OR FOR A TIGHT TURN. IT CAN THEN BE RESTARTED, BUT THE IDLE MAY BE INCONSISTENT AND CAN AFFECT THE CVT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHEN DECELERATING IN TRAFFIC. I PURCHASED THIS MOTORCYCLE NEW IN MARCH (3/25/16). WHEN I DROVE IT HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND CALLED THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH STALLING, THEY HAD TO TRAILER IT TO THE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY FOR APPROX 20 MIN, AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY AND COMING TO A STOP AT A STOPLIGHT AND THEN RE-ACCELLERATING TO 25MPH, THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER MOVED, MAKING A LOUD CLACKING SOUND ALLOWING THE TIMING CHAIN TO JUMP, RESULTING IN BENT VALVE STEMS ETC. I own a 2016 BMW C650GT. {VIN [VIN removed]}. {ENGINE # 70037975} There is a RECALL 14V-264 that applies to earlier models - with ENGINE numbers up to - 70020276. The reason for the recall was that the the mechanical CHAIN TENSIONER would wear excessively leading to failure. My 2016 C650GT has a MECHANICAL CHAIN TENSIONER {part dated - 20150819 or AUGUST 19th, 2015} that failed and caused catastrophic failure...including but not limited to the VALVE hitting the piston. 19V157000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings
Reported: 2019-03-01 (March 1, 2019)
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2013-2018 BMW C600 Sport and C650 Sport and 2013-2019 C650 GT scooters. Repeated turning of the handlebars to the left most position may cause the front brake hose to crack and leak over time.
Consequence: A brake fluid leak can reduce braking ability, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake hose, adding an additional protective sleeve that will cover the hose connection fitting, free of charge. The recall began August 6, 2019. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417. Note: This recall includes scooters previously recalled under 15V-738.
