The contact owns a 2023 Big Tex Utility Trailer. The contact stated that the unloaded trailer was being towed by a 2018 Forest River Forester RV built on a 2017 Ford E-450 Chassis. The contact stated while driving and releasing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle began to roll, however, the trailer brakes failed to respond upon engaging the brake controller. The trailer was taken to the dealer, where an electrical tester was used to diagnose, but no issues were found. The contact stated that the electrical tester was not adequate for the diagnos…

22V498000 · Tires:Temporary/Emergency Spare Tire
Reported: 2022-07-11 (July 11, 2022)
Big Tex Trailer Manufacturing, Inc. (Big Tex Trailer) is recalling certain 2003-2022 16GN trailers. The spare tire mount allows the spare tire to vibrate, which can cause the joint between the spare tire mount and the trailer to fatigue and eventually fail.
Consequence: Spare tire mount failure can allow the spare tire to detach from the trailer and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will relocate and reinforce the spare tire mount, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on September 9, 2022. Owners may contact Big Tex Trailer's customer service at 1-800-594-5637.
