I WAS DRIVING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE NEAR MY HOME IN HEAVY TRAFFIC IN RUSH HOUR ON AUGUST 21, 2019, WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED DEAD WITH NO WARNING; THE ENGINE SIMPLY CUT OFF. IT WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CAR BEHIND MANAGED TO STOP, BUT THE SITUATION LED TO CARS PASSING ME BY DRIVING INTO THE OPPOSITE LANE IN THE FACE OF INCOMING TRAFFIC. EARLIER I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES AN HOUR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, AND THE RESULTS COULD WELL HAVE BEEN SIGNIFICANT INJURY. Steering Defective - Do Not Drive Vehicle warning on cluster. Almost impossible to turn steering wheel. Thank goodness did not happen at highway speed. Only 50k miles. YMM not one in the extended warranty that was offered by Audi with this issue. Needed $4k whole new steering rack assembly which was on its 8th revision. Other mult posts with same issue. Audi should expand their help with this issue. Dealership that fixed it was top notch.
