2022 Audi A5: complaints, problems and recalls

The pre-sense; alert, seatbelt tightening and braking, was triggered unexpectedly when driving on the straight area of my side road without cause. There were no other vehicles, flying debri or animals in the path of the car to cause the sudden and abrupt braking. My car has since been inspected by the dealer and the result was the pre-sense safety feature is properly working. 255/35R19 Failure of 1 tire in July. Replaced tire. No concerns noted by Discount tire when replacing it. 1 month later, another tire blew. Clear indication of safety concern so I replaced all tires. I have a picture of the damage, as well as of me literally changing the tire. Informed of recall - filed claim with Continental - Continental has denied my claim for reimbursement despite the pictures.

All four tire have required replacement due to tread separation 2 tires replaced June 2023 with less than 15,000 miles 2 tires replaced September 2024 ,with thread separation.

The front tires started to come apart (tread separating from belt). I purchased new tires and had a shop install them. Some time later, after I had replaced the tires, I received a recall notice from Audi/Continental Tire for this exact issue. The notice (NHTSA Recall ID 24T009) stated to contact continental for reimbursement. I have contacted Continental Tire via telephone. NHTSA Recall ID: 24T009 Continental Claim Number: [XXX] While driving on the highway from Lake Tahoe to Los Angeles with my family in the car, the front passenger-side tire unexpectedly exploded. The entire tread detached from the tire, causing damage to the right side of the vehicle as it separated. I am writing to formally report a serious and ongoing issue with my 2022 Audi A5 involving multiple component failures. Most recently, both front windows suddenly stopped functioning and would not roll up, leaving my vehicle fully exposed. Reported: 2021-10-20 (October 20, 2021)

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2021 Audi A8 and S8, 2022 Audi A5 Sportback, A4 Sedan, E-Tron GT, Q3, Q5, RS6 Avant, A3 Sedan, S5 Sportback, Q5 Sportback, Q7, Q8, RSQ8, SQ7, SQ8, and S3 Sedan vehicles. A software error may prevent the rear-view image from initially displaying when the vehicle begins to reverse. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: A rear-view camera that does not display an image reduces the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will update the infotainment unit parameters, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 9, 2021. Owners may contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 91CR.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Audi) is recalling certain 2021-2022 AUDI A8, A6 Allroad, E-TRON Quattro, 2022 S3, RSQ8, RS7, RS6 Avant, Q8, Q7, Q3, E-TRON Sportback Quattro, S5 Cabriolet, E-TRON GT, S5 Sportback, A7, A6, A5 Sportback, A5 Cabriolet, A4, A4 Allroad, A3, S8, SQ7, SQ8, S6, and S4 vehicles. The infotainment main unit may become damaged internally when the vehicle is shut off, resulting in an inoperative rearview camera display the next time the vehicle is started. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Consequence: An inoperative rearview camera display reduces the driver's rear visibility, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the infotainment main unit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 6, 2022. Owners may contact Audi's customer service at 1-800-253-2834. Audi's number for this recall is 91Ei.
