CONSUMER STATED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH MUST BE REPLACED. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STOPPED. TS THE FAILURES CORRESPOND EXACTLY WITH THE CONSEQUENCES DESCRIBED IN RECALL 96V017000. THIS ALSO CAUSED THE TURN SIGNALS, LIGHTS AND HORN TO MALFUNCTION. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE IGNITION WOULD NOT MOVE AND COULD NOT TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. BRAKE PADS WORN AND REPLACED. *TT

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1994 AUDI 90 CS. THE CONTACT PLACED ALL FOUR WINDOWS DOWN AND THEY WILL CURRENTLY NOT GO BACK UP OR DOWN. THE WINDOWS ARE STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS THE CONTACT'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 96V017000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 158,960 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,360. UPDATE 09/10/08 *CW UPDATED 09/17/08. *JB

DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCHES WERE IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED AND CAN CAUSE SOME ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES TO MALFUNCTION.

Consequence: SOME ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES, SUCH AS, TURN SIGNALS, WINDSHIELD WIPERS, LAMPS, POWER WIND0WS AND AIR CONDITIONERS CAN MALFUNCTION WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH.

98V332000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Fuel Injection System

Reported: 1998-12-23 (December 23, 1998)

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH V6 ENGINES. AN INTERNAL SEAL OF THE FUEL INJECTOR CAN MALFUNCTION, ALLOWING FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

Consequence: FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE ALL FUEL INJECTORS.
