MY 2003 SUZUKI SV1000S MOTORCYCLE HAD AN INTERMITANT TOTAL POWER(ELECTRICAL) FAILURE THAT WOULD RESULT IN THE BIKE COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF. BIKE WAS BROUGHT TO A LOCAL DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY UNDER WARRENTY AND ADVISED ME THAT SOMETIMES THE BATTERYS JUST GO BAD. 1. BIKE WOULD COMPLETELY GO DEAD WHILE RIDING, GAUGES GO BLACK AND BIKE WILL NOT CRANK. IT HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES 2. PROBLEM WAS A TOTAL LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER, THIS MEANS NO LIGHTS, NO IGNITION, NO GAUGES, LIKE IF SOMEONE HAD TURNED OFF THE IGNITION SWITCH. 3. THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REFERENCE TO MY 2003 SUZUKI SV100S,CALIFORNIA MODEL[XXX]. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE BIKE HAS 23,000 MILES ON IT NOW. THE PROBLEM IS WITH FUEL LEAKING FROM A SPOT WELD ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FUEL TANK. I HAD THE ORIGINAL TANK REPLACED LAST YEAR UNDER THE EMISSIONS WARRANTY WHEN IT HAD ABOUT 16,000 MILES FOR FUEL LEAKING FROM THE SAME PLACE. MY 2003 SUZUKI SV1000S STARTED RUNNING POORLY AFTER I FILLED UP THE GAS TANK ON 9/10/2005. INITIALLY I THOUGHT I HAD BAD GAS. I TOOK THE BIKE TO THE DEALER AND THEY CHECKED IT AND FOUND THERE IS A CRACK IN THE TANK. THE DEALER SAID THE CRACK IS NEAR THE FUEL VAPOR SEPARATOR. THIS PART IS ONLY INSTALLED ON E-33 (CALIFORNIA MODEL) GAS TANKS FOR EMISSIONS PURPOSES. THAT CRACK CAUSED FUEL TO LEAK INTO THE CARBON CANISTER WHICH IS ONLY FOR FUEL VAPOR. MY SV1000 HAS EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH ITS CHARGING SYSTEM THAT AFFECTS THE ENTIRE ENGINE. I CAME TO FIND IT WAS A HEAVILY DOCUMENTED ON PUBLIC ONLINE FORUMS SUCH AS SV-PORTAL.COM AND HAS AFFECTED ALMOST ALL SV1000 OWNERS. THE MAGNETS, WHICH ARE GLUED TO THE INTERIOR OF THE STATOR ROTOR, BREAK FREE OF THEIR EPOXY BOND AND SHATTER INTO PIECES INSIDE THE ENGINE CASE.
