Reported: 1998-02-11 (February 11, 1998) · Model years: 1997

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: CHEVROLET AND GMC CONVERSION VANS EQUIPPED WITH TWIN AIR "ULTRA" REAR HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING UNITS AND CONVERTED BY SOUTHERN COMFORT CONVERSIONS. THE HEATER AND AIR CONDITIONING UNITS CONTAIN A RESISTOR COIL THAT CAN OVERHEAT WHEN THE FAN IS RUNNING AT A LOW SPEED.

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE WITHIN THE UNIT.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE RESISTOR COIL IN THESE UNITS.
