TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 SAFARI ZANZIBAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD TO DEPRESS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 02V278000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), 01V130001 (SERVICE BRAKES, AIR) AND 00V173000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

The contact owns a 2000 Zanzibar Safari RV. The contact stated that the vehicle was smoking and an abnormal burning odor was detected. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where diagnosed the brakes needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 77,905.

WHILE DOING A LUBE JOB ON VEHICLE CONSUMER NOTICED STEERING ARM HAD RUBBED A HOLE IN AIRBAG. WENT TO DEALER WHO INFORMED HIM THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER WILL HAVE DEALER GRIND ABOUT 30 % OFF STEERING ARM, AND INSTALL A NEW AIRBAG SO THAT STEERING ARM WILL NO LONGER RUB ON AIRBAG. CONSUMER AND DEALER BOTH FELT 30 % WAS TOO MUCH TO TAKE OFF STEERING ARM. *AK *JB

BRAKE FAILURES HAVE PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE, WITH THE LAST RESULTING IN AN UNAVOIDABLE TRAFFIC ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES. THE BRAKES LOCKED LOSING ALL BRAKING AND STEERING.
