ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT OF FIRE. OUR APPRAISER FINDINGS: ONE AS FORD HAD A RECALL ON THIS VEH FOR THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH THAT IS CONNECTED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM. THE SWITCH IS LOCATED ON THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND CAN CORRODE THE WIRING, CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT AND AN ENGINE FIRE. FORD - IN THEIR INFINITE WISDOM - WIRED THIS SWITCH "HOT" - SO IT HAS CONSTANT POWER WHICH EXPLAINS WHY OUR INSRD'S VEH WAS OFF / NOT RUNNING AND STILL IGNITED? POTENTIAL SUBROGATION. *TR

VEHICLE WAS IDLING IN PARK WITH THE E'BRAKE APPLIED, WHILE I WALKED TO MY MAILBOX... THE VEHICLE ROLLED ABOUT TEN FEET FLAT, THEN ROLLED ABOUT 30' DOWN A SLIGHT INCLINE , WITH THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE HITTING A TREE, BRINGING IT TO A STOP. THE TAILGATE AND BUMPER ARE DAMAGED BEYOND REPAIR. IT IS DIFFICULT TO GET THE VEHICLE TO HOLD IN PARK POSITION SINCE THIS HAPPENED. IT SEEMS TO NOT GO IN ALL THE WAY. I DO NOT SEE ANY RECALL FOR THIS VIN .. BUT I DO SEE SOME COMMENTS ONLINE REGARDING SIMILAR INCIDENTS. *TR
