The contact owns a 2022 Polaris Slingshot. The contact stated that while riding at an undisclosed speed, the transmission downshifted with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact became aware that the message “Shift not Allowed” was displayed. The motorcycle was able to be restarted; however, the failure recurred. The motorcycle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 800.

The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 45 MPH on a two-lane road, the brake pedal was depressed while making a left turn, and the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle independently shifted to neutral and became inoperable.
