Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

06V306000 · Service Brakes, Air:Antilock:Control Unit/Module

Reported: 2006-08-07 (August 7, 2006) · Model years: 2002, 2003, 2004

ON CERTAIN TERMINAL TRACTORS EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX AIR MODULATOR VALVES, THE ELECTRICAL WIRING TO THE AIR MODULATOR BRAKE VALVES FROM THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE (ECM) IS INCORRECT. THE WIRES TO THE "EXHAUST" AND "HOLD" CONNECTIONS ON THE BRAKE MODULATOR VALVES ARE REVERSED.

Consequence: IN AN ANTI-LOCK BRAKING EVENT, THIS WILL CAUSE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) TO MALFUNCTION. THE ABS PERFORMANCE WILL BE DEGRADED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL PROVIDE OWNERS WITH 4 MODULATOR VALVE JUMPER HARNESSES FOR INSTALLATION. OWNERS SHOULD HAVE THIS REMEDY DONE BY AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH "BENDIX" AIR MODULATOR VALVES AND BASIC ELECTRICAL ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON AUGUST 4, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT OTTAWA TRUCK AT 785-242-2200.
