Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

96V156000 · Vehicle Speed Control

Reported: 1996-08-27 (August 27, 1996) · Model years: 1994, 1995, 1996

WHEN THE CHASSIS/VEHICLE IS OPERATED ON A HIGHWAY AND THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM IS TURNED ON, WITH THE SPEED SET, IF THE STOP/HAZARD FUSE HAS FAILED, THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT DISENGAGE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED.

Consequence: THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM WILL NOT DISENGAGE INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Remedy: THE CRUISE CONTROL CIRCUITS WILL BE REWIRED AND A CONTROL RELAY INSTALLED TO DISENGAGE AND DEACTIVATE THE CRUISE CONTROL IF AN ELECTRICAL SHORT OR FUSE FAILURE OCCURS.

96V159000 · Suspension:Front:Springs:Air Suspension System

Reported: 1996-08-28 (August 28, 1996) · Model years: 1995, 1996

WITH NO AIR IN BOTH FRONT AXLE AIR SUSPENSION AIR BAGS, THE CHASSIS SUSPENSION WILL LOWER TO THE SUSPENSION STOP. WHEN THAT OCCURS, THE TRACK BAR BRACKET CAN CONTACT THE AXLE STEERING TIE ROD.

Consequence: THIS CONTACT WILL CAUSE INCREASED STEERING RESISTANCE AND COULD CAUSE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BRACKET TRACK BAR MOUNT WITH A NEW DESIGN.
