MY VAN WILL RANDOMLY SOUND LIKE IT IS NEUTRAL WHEN IT IS IN DRIVE AND IT LOSES ACCELERATION WHEN THIS OCCURS. THE FREQUENCY IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING AND DURATION IS INCREASING. IT WILL NOW LOSE ACCELERATION AND THE RPMS WILL RANDOMLY INCREASE WHILE DRIVING. THE RENTAL VAN THAT WE DROVE DID THE SAME THING. REPORTS FROM OTHER 2017 NV 3500 OWNERS STATE THAT THEIR VANS ARE DOING THE SAME THING. WHEN ACCELERATING, THERE IS A LOUD REVVING SOUND AND A NOTICEABLE LOSS OF POWER. THE VAN RUNS AT VERY HIGH RPMS AND ACTS LIKE IT CAN'T SHIFT OUT OF GEAR. SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO HAVING THE AIR CONDITIONER ON AT THIS POINT.

WHEN ACCELERATING IN LOW GEARS, THERE IS A LOUD FAN NOISE. LOSS OF POWER, AND A VERY HIGH REVVING ENGINE JUST BEFORE SHIFTING TO NEXT HIGHER GEAR. WHEN FINALLY REACH 40 MPH OR SO, REVVING GOES DOWN BUT VERY LOAD FAN/ENGINE NOISE IS STILL THERE. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. THE LATEST WAS 09/21. On July 4, 2023 I was backing out of a driveway and put my vehicle back into Drive. A piece out of the steering column fell at my feet. I pulled back into the driveway and could not get the vehicle to shift into park to be able to remove the keys from the ignition. We used the emergency brake. The cover had to be removed from the column and a piece was found to have stripped. We made a makeshift piece to hold it together to shift the vehicle into park and remove the keys. Passenger seat heater heating element burned through foam cushions of bottom of seat. Contacting bottom steel seat support. Cabin filled with smoke and forced me to pull vehicle over on side of road. Smoke stopped after vehicle was turned off and seat was inspected. Visible burn on bottom of cushion. Wiring harness to seat unplugged to drive vehicle home.
