90V067000 · Structure:Body:Door:Hinge And Attachments

Reported: 1990-04-09 (April 9, 1990) · Model years: 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987

ENTRY DOORS MAY NOT MEET LONGITUDINAL LOAD REQUIREMENTS DUE TO OMISSION OF MUSHROOM CAP ON THE STRIKER PIN, REQUIRED BY FMVSS 206.

Consequence: UNDER SEVERE CONDITIONS, SUCH AS EXTREME IMPACT TO THE MODULAR BOX OR A ROLLOVER, DOORS COULD SEPARATE FROM THE PIN AND OPEN; THIS WOULD ALLOW OCCUPANTS TO BE EXPELLED FROM AMBULANCE IF NOT SECURED BY SAFETY BELTS.

Remedy: INSTALL NEW STRIKER PINS THAT MEET FMVSS 206 REQUIREMENTS.
