WHEN THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF WHILE THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL IN DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION IS AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, NOT PARK. AS A RESULT, THE PASSENGER ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT DO SO BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING...VERY UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY IF CHILDREN WERE GREETING THE VEHICLE.

I PURCHASED MY 2016 MERCEDES BENZ GLE 350 LATE SEPTEMBER 2019. SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH WATER GETTING IN THROUGH THE LIFT GATE. ON SATURDAY JAN 4 THIS WATER ENTRY THROUGH TRUNK CAUSED MY MERCEDES BENZ TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. FORTUNATELY I WAS ON A SAFE ROADWAY WITH AMPLE SPACE BETWEEN OTHER DRIVES AND AN ACCIDENT DID NOT OCCUR. AFTER TOWING IT HOME I HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED BY MY LOCAL MERCEDES BENZ SPECIALIST. THE PROBLEM HAPPENED ON A BUSINESS TRIP TO AND FROM KANSAS CITY MO. AND MINNEAPOLIS MN. THE CRUISE CONTROL HAS A FEATURE THAT CAN READ ROAD SPEED LIMIT SIGNS AND CHANGE THE SET SPEED TO MATCH THE INDICATED SPEED. THIS FEATURE CAN BE TURNED ON OR OFF BY USING THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM. ON THIS TRIP TO KANSAS I HAD THIS SIGN RECOGNITION FEATURE TURNED OFF. THE PROBLEM IS THAT ON AT LEAST 12 OCCASIONS DURING THIS 900 MILE TRIP THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD ARBITRARILY CHANGE THE SET SPEED FROM 70 MPH TO 45 MPH APPLYING THE BRAKES TO REDUCE TO THE 45 MPH …
