TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 LEXUS NX200T. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15.

TRAVELING ON ON H-1 EAST FREEWAY, NEAR THE RADFORD PEDESTRIAN OVERPASS, IN HONOLULU, HAWAII, ON WAY TO AIRPORT WHEN BRAKES APPLIED AND DID NOT WORK, CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. REPEATED COMPRESSION OF BRAKES FAILED TO SLOW OR STOP VEHICLE. BRAKES FAILED CAUSING DRIVER TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE.

VEHICLE SELF-STARTED WHILE UNATTENDED. AFTER START#2 CAR WAS CHECKED FOR DASH LIGHTS AND RUNNING ENGINE WHEN LEFT. UPON RETURN THE GAS TANK WAS HALF USED AND CAR WAS RUNNING. THIS OCCURRED TWICE MORE. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the electric fuel pump replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure.
