ON OR ABOUT 3/21/08 MY WIFE HEARD A BEEPING SOUND WHILE WE WERE OUTSIDE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION WE DISCOVERED THAT OUR KEYSTONE OUTBACK RV WAS ON FIRE. WE EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH WATER. SOME DAYS LATER MY BROTHER CAME OVER TO HELP ME REPAIR IT. WE ARE BOTH FIREFIGHTERS, SO OF COURSE WE INVESTIGATED THE CAUSE. WE DISCOVERED A PINCHED A.C. WIRE BETWEEN THE CHASSIS AND FLOOR. I HAVE TAKEN PIX BUT HAVE NOT CONTACTED THE DEALER BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND CANNOT BE TOWED BY ME DUE TO THE 12 WIRES BEING MELTED THEREFORE NO BRAKE LIGHTS.…

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 KEYSTONE OUTBACK. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE SWERVED ALL OVER THE ROAD WITHOUT WARNING. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH INADEQUATE COMPONENTS. THE COMPONENTS CONSISTED OF THE RIMS, AXLES, BRAKES, AND TIRES. THE TRAILER WEIGHT RATING AND REAR AXLE WEIGHT WERE NOT PERMISSIBLE TO THE RECOMMENDED STANDARDS. THE TRAILER IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE VIN AND MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE.

THE CONSUMER HAS A PROBLEM WITH RODENTS EATING THE WIRING INSULATION. THE WIRING INSULATION WAS REPLACED AND THEY ARE EATING UP THE NEW REPLACEMENT WIRING AGAIN. *JB

NORMAL USE 4 TO 8 TIMES A YEAR. 6 OCCUPANTS AT TIME OF INCIDENT, 2 ADULTS, 4 CHILDREN. GREAT POTENTIAL FOR STARTING FOREST FIRE. SLIDEOUT WAS UNOCCUPIED AND HADN'T BEEN MOVED FOR 3 DAYS. WIRES ON SLIDEOUT SPONTANEOUSLY SHORT OUT AND BURN. TWO KNOWN INSTANCES IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS, MINE AND ANOTHER OUTBACK OWNER, DIFFERENT MODELS AND YEARS (2006 28RSDS AND 2007 29BHS).
