I FEEL COMPELLED TO CONTRIBUTE, THIS 2000 IS MY 3RD WRANGLER AND I MUST SAY MOST OF THESE COMPLAINTS SOUND LIKE TRUMPED UP BUNK. ESPECIALLY ABOUT SHIFTING FROM 1ST INTO 2ND AND A GRINDING CLUTCH ON AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION?? EACH TIME THE CAR WAS PUT INTO REVERSE WHEN BACKING OUT OF GARAGE OR PARKING LOT, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD ABRUPTLY JUMP INTO REVERSE GEAR WITH A VERY LOUD AND ABRUPT MOTION. IF YOU DID NOT HAVE YOUR FOOT ON BRAKE WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR, CAR WOULD LEAP BACKWARDS. DEALER FOUND A LEAKING VALVE BASE GASKET IN THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH HE REPLACED. ON FEBURARY 1, 2003, MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING A 2000 JEEP WRANGLER AT ABOUT 35 MPH ON A SLIGHT UP-GRADE. SHE LEFT ABOUT 20' OF STRAIGHT SKID PRIOR TO A REAR-END COLLISION. SLIGHT DEFORMATION TO THE BUMPER, A SMALL DENT AND BROKEN TURN SIGNAL LENS ON RIGHT FENDER. SHE WAS WEARING THE SEAT BELT AND SHOULDER STRAP, YET SUSTAINED A BROKEN NOSE AND BROKEN CHEEK BONE FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. UPON PUTTING VEHICLE IN PARK PARKING BRAKE DID NOT HOLD AND HAD TO BE ADJUSTED. *TS THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE DIDN'T STOP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE AND BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAM SHAFT AND CRANK SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
