As I slowed down to make a right hand turn, my battery light and engine light both came on. Then, a warning message flashed and beeped for about 15 seconds saying the engine was shutting off. I pulled over and the car put itself in park and shut off completely.

Dead battery parasitic drawer. brand new 2024 Hyundai Kona purchase February 2024. The car has been in the repair shop four times for this issue. Service department cannot find the parasitic draw so they just give you a new battery. The battery has been replaced twice. the problem has been reproduce, and the battery has died at the dealership. The manufacturer has been contacted, but the parasitic draw they cannot find.

While driving at night, there was a complete loss of power of all interior and exterior lights. The engine continued to run. Because it was at night, I had problems staying on the road since this was a rural highway.

Hyundai engages emergency parking brake EPB) automatically when in parked on an incline. The EPB will disengage under normal operation if all doors are closed. If doors are open, EPB will not disengage. If going from park to drive, this is not a problem. However, if in drive, traveling with trunk open for oversized cargo, the vehicle will drive normally until a stop on an incline, when the EPB will engage automatically, and then when the driver tries to proceed from the stop, their vehicle is disabled. The steering wheel locks while driving. The headlights have gone out randomly on this car a few times. The steering locked up in a turn and I went into another guys lane and almost caused a major accident. The dealerships say they can’t recreate the issue but never really tried. The vehicle has been lemoned law but the manufacturer now is playing games and not following through on the lemon law replacement vehicle.
