Owner report 11424595 · 2021-07-13 (July 13, 2021)

The contact owns a 2021 Hyundai Elantra. The contact stated that while pulling into the driveway, while slowing down, the vehicle inadvertently lunged forward. The vehicle seemed as though it was attempting to accelerate forward. The contact had to depress the brake pedal with excessive force to keep the vehicle from moving forward. The failure was independently remedied, and the vehicle started to perform as designed. The contact stated that failure occurred on three different occasions. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer however, the …

Owner report 11457937 · 2022-03-23 (March 23, 2022)

On multiple drives the car has "lurched" or accelerated when foot was NOT on the accelerator pedal. These were minor issues, but unnerving when pulling up to park near a structure. Today 3-23-22 I was driving and after about 1 hour of normal operation the car began to accelerate while pressing the brake, and decelerate while pushing the gas. The engine was revving and then slowing down opposite of what would be expected. This is a hybrid vehicle - it felt as if the gas engine was supposed to be spooling up to charge the battery but instead …

Owner report 11528504 · 2023-06-23 (June 23, 2023)

the h e v warning light comes on when driving. the hybrid battery disconnects from the engine and the car is undriveable. have to pull over, stop the car, turn off the car and then reset the hybrid battery. this has happened twice in last week. thank fully i was able to pull over safely, but this a dangerous situation for me and other cars around me. the car had been taken to the dealership just two weeks ago and they were unable to diagnose the issue

Owner report 11586175 · 2024-04-30 (April 30, 2024)

When gas is pressed (even to floor) in drive, vehicle stalls, does not accelerate. Then vehicle jerks into propulsion after revving. Other instances, at deceleration the car will jerk and shake to a stop. I have mentioned the problem at every scheduled maintenance

Owner report 11612636 · 2024-09-04 (September 4, 2024)

When driving the vehicle for more than 10 minutes, the dash will display " Check hybrid system. Stop safely" the vehicle will completely stall and will not allow you accelerate forcing you to pull over, turn the vehicle off and reset the 12v battery. Once this is done the car will turn on normally as if nothing happened. This issue happens randomly and without a warning. It was occurred on the highway many times while traveling 60+ mph and I had to stop abruptly and was forced to slow down drastically and pull over on a median and reset the ca…

Owner report 11569635 · 2024-02-03 (February 3, 2024)

2 times on freeway and 1 time on city streets, no vehicles within 100 yards and vehicle came to complete random stop. On freeway, tires skidded it was so abrupt and had neck pains for a few days thereafter. One time also on city street, corrective steering pulled shaply to right almost causing accident. Called hyundai and the representative had no advice or care to even intake the issue for records.not a safe vehicle especially since the engine has already failed and the ac has been replaced. It's now a frankenstein death trap being a danger t…

Owner report 11640896 · 2025-02-05 (February 5, 2025)

Sometimes when the cruise control is turned on the car starts the cruise setting at 110mph and then starts accelerating the vehicle to that speed. It does not allow the mph setting to be turned down using the controls on the steering wheel, the only way to take it out of the stuck 110 mph setting is by turning cruise control off or braking. This situation happens rarely but does occur with only the cruise control being turned on, without any further prompt. I have a video of the occurance but the website does not allow me to upload a video.

Owner report 11499585 · 2022-12-30 (December 30, 2022)

After driving the vehicle for about 5 miles I stopped to make a left turn and when I let off the brake and pressed the gas pedal the car crept forward but wouldn't speed up and the gas engine wasn't starting or even cranking. After about 20 to 30 seconds to gas engine started and the car drove fine for about 15 miles then I went to slow down and the car speed up on it own and the adaptive cruise control was off. Then it drove fine for a few more miles then I stopped at a red light and then began to make a right turn and the car did the same as …

Owner report 11530328 · 2023-07-04 (July 4, 2023)

Horn has failed twice. The first time it was taken to the dealership and “fixed” - now it has failed again. The second issue is that the car accelerates on its own, both at a high and low rate of speed. While traveling at approximately 60 mph on multiple occasions, when the engine transitions from the electric motor to the gas engine, it will suddenly rapidly accelerate without any additional pressure on the gas pedal. While braking at a low rate of speed, the car seems to fight the brakes and will accelerate instead, propelling the car forward…
