Owner report 11412936 · 2021-04-19 (April 19, 2021)

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE STALLED. WHEN FINALLY GOT IT BACK STARTED IT MADE A AWFUL KNOCKING NOISE. HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME IT WAS THE ROD BEARINGS. THEY SAID I DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR A REPLACEMENT BECAUSE I WAS 1,000 MILES OVER WARRANTY. THESE MOTORS SHOULD HAVE A RECALL LIKE THE 2011-2016 THESE MOTORS ARE DOING THE SAME THING AS THEM. YET THERE IS NO RECALL MY KIDS AND HUSBAND COULD OF BEEN REALLY INJURED ESPECIALLY SINCE IT STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY.

Owner report 11433931 · 2021-09-22 (September 22, 2021)

driving down highway 50MPH, car completely lost power. Could have run off road due to loss of power steering, could have been hit, Got looked at by Ruddell dealership in port angeles wa where it was purchased, has a seized motor, not due to lack of oil. based upon research on the internet, this is a common issue at around 60-80K miles with this year make model. especially considering the fact that Hyundai just settled in october of 2020 for motors seizing without admitting fault, I believe they are still producing faulty motors. they have also…

Owner report 11477089 · 2022-08-02 (August 2, 2022)

I bought a 2017 Hyundia Elantra GT on 2/14/22 for my 16 year old daughter cash $8000. The car ran good for about a month but I could smell fumes so I took the car to the dealership on 3/11/22. I had to replaced the catalytic converter with the Hyundia dealership, which cost me $2600. On 4/8/22, my 16 year old daughter was driving to work and she advised me that it was really hard to stop on the brakes. I asked her did the brake light or service light come on. She was like no, so I drove the care to see what she was talking about and it was real…

Owner report 11737885 · 2026-05-14 (May 14, 2026)

I am writing to formally log a critical safety and product reliability complaint regarding my Hyundai Elantra GT. The vehicle has suffered catastrophic engine failure characterized by severe rod knock. This failure occurred without any prior warning from the vehicle’s onboard diagnostic systems, exposing an engineering and sensor flaw that creates an immediate safety hazard. The vehicle was operating normally when it suddenly developed a distinct, heavy metallic knocking sound from the engine block, indicative of failed connecting rod bearings. …

Owner report 11352948 · 2020-09-03 (September 3, 2020)

AT 77,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING, DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. ENGINE SHUT OFF, LOUD NOISE CAME FROM ENGINE, OBVIOUS ENGINE FAILURE NOT SURE IF FROM FUEL PUMP. CAR HAD REGULAR SERVICE MAINTENANCE. NOT UNDER HYUNDAI 100K WARRANTY SINCE I AM THE SECOND OWNER. CEASED ENGINE RELATED TO OIL - MOST LIKELY FAILED OIL PUMP.
