Owner report 11424560 · 2021-07-13 (July 13, 2021)
I was driving in heavy traffic on the Manhattan Bridge in Brooklyn, NY on a 2018 Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 motorcycle when my hydraulic clutch suddenly stopped functioning. The bike has only about 70 miles on the odometer. This clutch problem caused the motorcycle to jerk to a stop. It was difficult to shift into neutral to restart the vehicle and there was a long line of cars behind me on the bridge with no breakdown lane. I was barely able to get the vehicle off the bridge. Every time I had to slow down to avoid a collision, the bike would stal…

Owner report 11355301 · 2020-09-16 (September 16, 2020)
THE SEAL ON THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER FAILED, PREVENTING ME FROM SHIFTING OUT OF GEAR, INTO NEUTRAL TO EFFECT A SAFE STOP. I WAS RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE AT THE TIME AND HAD TROUBLE STOPPING. I HAD TO STALL THE ENGINE WHILE RIDING TO STOP. WHEN THE MOTORCYCLE DID STOP, IT WAS NOT A CONTROLLED STOP AND THE MOTORCYCLE NEARLY FELL OVER.

Owner report 11618374 · 2024-10-07 (October 7, 2024)
Repeated instances of complete motorcycle throttle failure/unresponsiveness, so far, only at starting out. Forums online describe this as a frequent, chronic problem with Husqvarna Vitpilen 701 (made by KTM). Message on Speedometer: TC FAILURE First incident: July 14, 2024 Approx mileage 8500 Immediate complete OEM battery replacement offered no change. Disabling “Traction Control” mitigated problem for last 2+ months. Possibly only incidental or coincidental success. Frequency of problem, however, has recently returned. Recent online se…

Owner report 11547690 · 2023-10-02 (October 2, 2023)
Sudden loss of throttle control. Fist incident I had left my house and ridden a 1/2 mile and the throttle suddenly became unresponsive. The motorcycle then after restart would only go aprx 10-15mph with throttle applied. I replaced the battery as it was 3yrs of age. Motorcycle then operated normally for the next trip aprx 5 miles. The following day as I went to turn left and enter a roadway in a gap in traffic the motorcycle lurched forward a few feet and then had no throttle response. This put me into the oncoming traffic lane with no propulsi…

Owner report 11423826 · 2021-07-07 (July 7, 2021)
As I approached an intersection with a stop sign for my direction of travel I pulled the clutch lever in to slow my speed and downshift the motorcycle. The clutch lever pulled all the way to the handlebar without disengaging the clutch. I had to lock/skid the rear brake to avoid being hit by an oncoming automobile. Fortunately the driver of the vehicle saw me skidding past the stop sign and swerved to avoid hitting me. I had to put the motorcycle into first gear and press the starter button as I pushed to get moving again. At the next intersect…
